In 1982, as Chief Deputy District Attorney and Vice President of the Nevada District Attorneys Association, Mr. Laxalt joined the law firm of Beckley, Singleton, DeLanoy and Jemison to spearhead that firm's northern Nevada insurance defense litigation office. While at the Beckley firm, Mr. Laxalt specialized in product liability, construction defect, business and employment litigation and premises liability. Since 1986 and the formation of the firm, his practice has been devoted to those same areas. He has tried over 60 cases to jury verdict, with a success rate in excess of 90 percent, including many high profile cases. He is Nevada litigation counsel for such clients as Caterpillar Inc., Navistar, Tamrock Oy, and Raymond Corporation, and has successfully defended agricultural chemical manufacturers (methyl bromide and chloralpicrin) and drug manufacturers (L-Tryptophan). He is employment litigation counsel for International Game Technology, Wells Fargo Bank, John Ascuaga's Nugget, and the Atlantis Hotel Casino. He has lectured at and taught Nevada State Bar and other Continuing Legal Education courses in the law of insurance bad faith, employment, premises security defense, and general litigation.
